A large architectural firm approached us with a brief for the 80th birthday of the company. They wanted to theme the main hall in particular, for a large client drinks reception. The company was founded in the 1920’s and so we proposed that the theme follow a 1920’s style. The idea was to focus on the glamour of the era and to capture the sophistication of these times.
Over 600 people were invited to the event so potentially would fill the entire space. The client had restrictions in that they wanted to use the far end of the hall as a registration area and wanted to
keep this separate to the rest of the hall. They were also worried that, despite the large number of guests, the hall would feel too big. To counteract this we created seating units to the left hand side of the hall using vintage Chesterfield sofas and antique side tables. We then bought in six foot Kentia palms to bring the space in and soften the room. We used elegant screens to section the registration area from the rest of the hall, which worked perfectly.
At the back of the hall 1920’s films were projected in black and white to set the scene. We screened Harold Lloyd short films style as these featured lots of buildings and were very apt for
the nature of the company. Beautiful black and white table centres were placed on poseur tables and also on Perspex plinths at the entrance to the venue. In all the invitations a feather was included which was a little detail reflected in the main event.
